Under section 40 of the Employees’ Compensation Ordinance, Chapter 282 of the Laws of Hong Kong, no employer shall employ any employee in any employment unless there is in force a policy of Employees’ Compensation Insurance to cover the employer’s liabilities under the law (including common law), irrespective of the duration of employment contract or working hours, full-time or part-time employment, permanent or temporary status.
